Jason McMahon is a clarinetist, composer, actor, director & teacher based in the North West of England. He is currently reading music and drama at the University of Manchester (studying clarinet with Tom Verity and composition with Dr. Camden Reeves). A contemporary music enthusiast, Jason is keen to perform new works both chamber and solo. A theatre lover too, Jason is always looking for new ways to make theatre, both in his own theatre company and elsewhere with other actors, directors and practitioners.
Jason is the founding member of the Volante wind quintet who are based in Manchester. Together they play a variety of music, including new works by Jason himself. They are keen to play new works and have commissioned some too. Collaborations include working with composer Michael Finnisy on his wind quintet 'East London Heyes'. as well as with actors and dancers in music performance.
Much of Jason's work, both as a soloist & with Volante, centres around working with composers on commissions, & with actors, directors and dancers to try and bring the art forms closer together, particulary in performance.
This website inculdes scores & text works, & gives details of current projects.
